I feel wonderful. Just got another classmate into anime. I have no idea how our SeinfieldianConversation segued into NGE, but that piqued her attention, and now she's gone and watched all 26 episodes. And Death, Rebirth and End. She started on Friday, and she just finished all that. It took me longer. If my memory serves me correctly, I finished 10+ episodes of NGE in a week. It's 5 days. 26 episodes, 3 movies.
She finished almost everything in the franchise, and we've been talking about it the whole time.
And now, she wants more.
I recommend her K-ON, Lucky Star and Suzumiya Haruhi, because those were the last few animes I watched, and the last is just my favorite one. Along with a cynical depiction of all of them. The last description is notably long.
She rejects the first two, because of the lack of plot. She also wanted an anime with less MindScrew than NeonGenesisEvangelion, because of the last few episodes and End.
Fine. Let's see you watch Higarushi. I warn him that because of how Kyoto Animation structured things, Haruhi is arranged in AnachronicOrder,and thus, the first broadcast episode is one of the last few in the two seasons when they're arranged chronologically. I also warn him about Endless Eight, and add in the fact that that was done mainly so that viewers can empathize with a character, and why she created a universal RetCon of reality.
Then I suggest Code Geass, and R2. Idealistic kid who wants to make the world a better place, with his power, a Geass. His Geass lets him give instructions that people have to obey, but only one instruction per person, and it never wears off. He succeeds, the world hates him, and he dies. All that, technically true, but I doubt she's GenreSavvy enough to see the spoiler.
Lastly, Death Note. The anime version. Yes, there's an anime version. There's also a manga version. Light actually kills L, and brings in 2 more characters. It's infinitely more awesome, with the plotting, counter-plotting, and counter-counter-plotting. Light even pulls off a MemoryGambit.
Alright. Enough with the gratuitous fangirling.
I've already started looking for people to go to AFA with me, assuming no holiday plans get caught up with it. 13/14 November, Suntec, 403/404. I know Kelly's coming along. Aforementioned friend is, quite a few friends of a friend. Most of them (read: all but 3 for now) are from NUS High, though the last guy's from Maris Stella. He's quite cute for his age (17), and he looks… well younger.
Gah. Two days worth of events, not to mention loads of stuff. O, and the concert. Wonder if my parents will let me go? Also, it costs $188 for a 2 day pass. If it really comes down to it, I'd go for the first day, because of Hatsune. Don't get me wrong, Mizuki isn't too bad and Nakagawa is really skilled, but still, there's the allure of a computer program who can sing well, and not sound like GLaDoS after getting a Japanese upgrade. ALright, fine. "Can". It's still possible for her to sing a translated version of "Still Alive", theoretically speaking.
Still, my main gripe is that it's ridiculously expensive. Mirai T-shirts costs $46. $30 of K-ON merchandise for a limited-edition postcard. Which my father will most probably misconstrue anyway. I <3 Anisong T-shirts for $35. $45 for a limited edition T-shirt that has 4 of the 5 artistes, except Miku, because, you know, WhatMeasureIsANonHuman?
*pout*
At the very least, I want something nice. Like figurines, CDs or posters. And of course, to not mistake the afa09.com site for this year's one.
::facepalm::
::headdesk::
I'm keeping that rant. Just because it's amusing, and it completely misses the point. Still, this year's AFA better be cheaper. I wonder how much money I can save before then? I'm aiming for $200 at the very least. That's 9 weeks. 45 days, excluding weekends. That's $4 a day. Right. How tough can it be?
GilliganCut to me panicking away… XD
Anyway, I've figured out how to wear a hairband like Ritsu. No way I'm going to get such silky hair, so I'm making up by letting my hair cover the hairband instead.
That was a random sidetrack.
Mabel, Otaku.
