For my Aural Pleasure

I swear, "don't ask me" is fast becoming my catchphrase. I'm tempted to add that to the back of my last sentence just to invoke it, and so that I can go, "See?"

Anyway, I've been stuck without Internet for the last few days, after I moved. So, I wrote everything on my word processor, while listening to my music endlessly, and clearing my desktop. I delete what I can, zip and file away whatever else, and partitioned whatever I could.

My desktop window became so much cleaner.

Anyway, here's what I wrote.

It’s been ages since I wrote in there.

Okay, 4 days, once I return to post this.

Well, moving was relatively painless. Emphasis on relative. That’s why I’m writing my thoughts on my word processor until I get Internet access on Friday. Until then, I’ve got to subside on the piano, my songs, writing and TV.

The piano is scratch-less, my books all made it up safely and my room is sparse. The first is a good thing.

The last is good, except that practically everything is in boxes. I’d like to see it as a good thing until I start to unpack my stuff.

The second is partially good. My fiction books are safe. That’s good. My Chinese books are also safe. That isn’t good.

Oh well, at least most of my things survived the move.

Now, I’ve realised that I have an... how should I put it, infatuation/obsession with BadassNormal and BadassBookworm characters. Let’s put it this way. I support Kyon/Yuki, or in tropes, BadassNormal/BadassBookworm. Come to think of it, the whole Brigade is composed of Badasses. Since I don’t have Internet access, I can’t give you an accurate trope for each of them. Never mind. Hopefully, I’ll be able to draw up something when I upload this. If I don’t upload this... well, only I’ll know about this.

Insert maniacal laughter.

Whatever.

The second day.

Have I mentioned I’ve lost Internet access for the rest of the school week? Therefore, I’m trapped. On the plus side, my friends can’t email me stuff.

Yay.

Back, quite a few of the teachers disappeared today, mainly due to MCs. I made a personal note to laugh if I found out that our Geog teacher had went to USA and contracted e coli 0157H7. I blame it on Food Inc., which will no doubt scare quite a few people in school if I somehow get cleared to do a school-wide screening.

Anyway, due to some strategic absences, quite a good chunk of our lessons was missed. I shouldn’t elaborate, but let’s just say there was a ruckus. My original plan for such absences was, and still is sleep as much as I can. Not a viable plan, because my class, is well, my class.

Anyway, the forums. The last time I checked with the ex-reporters was on Monday, right before the move. We aren’t too happy with the decreasing amount of respect we’re getting from the admins. The mods still respect us, in a rivalry-esque relationship because of how we convinced the admins to let us mod our section of the boards. Okay, that was because of an overenthusiastic mod who deleted one of our editions because of a link with questionable SFWness. We still think that’s overkill, something the other mods agree with.

Anyway, the admins used to like us because we gave a very condensed view of the forum’s current mood. What they liked about the last update, that they didn’t. What they wanted, what their current obsession was (Discworld was a recurring one, and at one point, Dan Simmon’s Hyperion Cantos).

Then we left, and we continued with our snarking, line-prodding and general dislike of fitting in. The mods were once asked to ban all of us, according to an inside source.

They refused, and threatened to ban the admins in retaliation. Things became very tense, at one point threatening to bring it into real life, because in a strange coincidence, one of the mods was one of the admin’s bosses.

Right now, we hold a great deal of unofficial power in the community. We had 14 people when we closed. We have 15 boards, and numerous sub-forums. We’re all selected from the various boards for our experience, skill and snark.

It’s kinda easy to see how we can sway the boards. And since some of the mods were hired from our ranks, we hold some power in the mods.

Given an all-out war between the admins and us, we could create a near-complete boycott of the boards, theoretically. Add Kelly, and yeah, we could most probably pull that off...

Just one day would be enough.

The admins can’t ban all of us, because they still need people on their forums, and I seriously doubt they can risk a near-total ban unless they’ve gone crazy.

Of course, this is all theoretical...

For now.

It’s in my plans. I’m trying to become CrazyPrepared.

Anyway, for my 8 stories for CAP, I’ve got 5 done. The best one from last year, and 4 new stories.

3 more to go. I could go for poems, but I was never was good with them. So it’s decided. 3 more stories.

The first one, chronologically speaking, is the lightest one. It talks about a generation gap, and tradition in the face of modernization.

The last one would be about the world being held with a fully loaded gun to its head, held by its supposed protectors, the Defenders. Or as they’re better known, the Power Rangers.

Yes, things get darker, and weirder as time progresses.

According to my friends who attended CAP, there isn’t many writers who can pull off such a story and still joke around. Of course.

Ever tried to invoke MoodDissonance?

Well, I’m thinking of going more personal, and writing about suicide. Let’s see how scary I can make it, eh?

I never was good at light stories anyway.

Mabel, Darker than usual.
